Richard Eugene Rinker

Richard Eugene Rinker of Caro, age 83, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw. Dick was born October 25, 1934 in Elmira, New York, the son of the late Benjamin & Myrtle (Moore) Rinker. He graduated from Elmira South Side High School with the class of 1952. Dick was united in marriage with the former Beverly Shumway on June 30, 1956 in Elmira, and the couple has cherished more than sixty years together. His working career was spent as a pattern maker, first for Kennedy Valve in Elmira in 1956. Dick and Beverly moved from New York to Michigan in 1966 when he began a thirty-year career with Chevy Gray Iron in Saginaw, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church and the Caro Moose Lodge #1049. When his children were young, Dick enjoyed coaching Little League and was a member of the Bridgeport Band Boosters. He also enjoyed bowling, playing golf and cards. Left to cherish Dick's memory are his wife, Beverly Rinker of Caro; four children, Ronda Timmins (Harold Lowe) of Caro, Kevin Rinker and wife, Kelli, of Pasadena, Maryland, Mike Rinker (Dawn Salak) of Clermont, Florida, Darcie Asher and husband, Tony, of Tuscon, Arizona; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Garry Timmins; three sisters, Doris Swarthout, Phyllis Matthews and Millie Furman. In keeping with Dick's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Anthony Tomasino officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro United Methodist Church.
