Richard Stevenson

Richard Louis Stevenson, age 76, died on July 14, 2011 at the Cartwright Center in Saginaw. He was born on October 27, 1934 in Caro to the late Hazen “Pete” and Lula (Jacot) Stevenson. Dick was a lifelong resident of the Caro area. He graduated from Caro High School and attended Michigan State University. He first went to work for General Motors, but his passion laid in sales, first with Ortho and later in the furniture business. Later in life, he was an insurance salesman. Dick played fast pitch softball in Akron, and enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #1049. He loved music and for many years led and performed with Stevens Trio; quite often at Sherwood on the Hill in Gagetown. He is survived by his children, Bob Stevenson of Caro, Dale (Linda) Stevenson of Caro, Kelly (Donald) Flagg of Haslett, Bill (Kim) Stevenson of Vassar, Lisa Sanders of Caro, Mandy Knox of Caro, and Paul (Dana) Stevenson of Seminole, Florida; fourteen grandchildren, Kraig, Karla, Ty, Chris (Meagan) Stevenson, Jocelyn, T.J., Katie, Ali, Evan, Meghann, Caleb, Maddy, Ryan and Sarah; one great-granddaughter, Magdalyn Rose Stevenson; his sister, Arlene Nagy of Caro; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Cartwright Center for their wonderful care. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his remaining aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with Chris Taylor officiating. In accordance with Mr. Stevensons wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cartwright Center, Hospital Rd., Saginaw, MI.
