Richard H. Wingett, age 90, of Caseville, died at his home Tuesday, June 6, 2006 while under hospice care.
He was born June 6, 1916 in Cherry Box, Missouri to the late John and Nellie (Cockrum) Wingett. Richard married Rose Mary Danner on August 7, 1937 in Edina, Missouri. Together they moved to Leonard, Michigan in 1939. Richard served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from National Twist Drill in Rochester in 1974 and moved to Caseville the next year. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles #3690. He enjoyed tinkering and working about his home.
Richard is survived by his wife of 68 years Rose; son Rodney (Patricia) of Utica, and daughter Rama (Tony) Bruce of Caseville; grandchildren Tony, Natalie, Rich, Nikki, Robbie, Tracie, Ryan, Rhett and Dustin; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother Leroy (Betty) of Lake Orion and sister Joanne of Pontiac.
He was preceded in death by his son Roland and brothers James, John and Clarence.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. Philip Voss of the Caseville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Caseville Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday. There will be an Eagles’ Ritual at 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to United Hospice or the American Heart Association.
