Richard Witkovsky

Richard Witkovsky of Caro, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at his home. Richard was born November 11, 1934, in Caro, the son of the late Walter and Mildred (Surine) Witkovsky. He proudly served in the United States Army from March 26, 1957, until his honorable discharge on January 8, 1959. On March 14, 1987, Richard married Elaine Etzler in Caro, and the couple cherished nearly twenty-seven years of marriage until her passing in 2014. Richard worked for Michigan Sugar, and in his spare time he enjoyed farming, polka, square dancing, and reminiscing about the good ol' days. He was a fan of anything relating to old farm equipment and was a long-time member of the Thumb Area Old Engine and Tractor Association. Richard is survived by four children and their spouses, Robert & Kim Witkovsky of Caro, Raylene & Dale Shoup of Caro, Timothy Fuester of New Baltimore, and Nicole & Adam Stein of Reed City; seven grandchildren, Richard & Melissa Witkovsky, Nikki & Nick Arquette, Timothy and John Fuester, and Alaina, Alexandra, and Aleeya Stein; three great-grandchildren, Liam Moody, and Jerry and Kallen Arquette; and one brother and his wife, Melvin & Connie Witkovsky. In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Witkovsky. In keeping with Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is being planned for a later date and details will appear on this website as soon as they become available.
