Rita Ann Gonzales

Rita Ann Gonzales of Watrousville, age 70, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born May 23, 1952 in Cass City, the daughter of the late Spencer and Irene (Freeman) Blakely. She was united in marriage with Marcello Gonzales, Jr. on April 4, 1970 in Caro and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2003. Rita was employed at the Caro Center for nearly thirty years, retiring in 2004. She enjoyed needlepoint, shopping, cooking, sightseeing, and hanging out with family. Rita is survived by three sons, Marcello Gonzales III of Piedmont, South Carolina, Francisco Gonzales and his wife, Melissa, of Fairgrove, and Edward Gonzales of Cass City; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Gordon Blakely and his wife, Pat; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Rita was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Ann Fales; and two brothers, Fredrick and William Blakely. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro at a later date following a life celebration nearer her birthday.
