Robert "Bob" Baldwin

Robert D. Baldwin age 87 of Elkton died Wednesday evening, December 3 at Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe.

He was born October 19, 1926 in Windsor, Ontario to the late Arthur and Marianne (Smeaton) Baldwin. After graduating from Walkerville High School in Winsor he attended Ford Trade School and became a Wood Pattern Maker.

On June 5, 1949, he was united in marriage to E. Margaret Price.
After a few years with Ford in Windsor, he commuted to the GM Tech Center, Warren, eventually moving to Utica, where they raised their five daughters. He left GM twelve years later and worked in the small independent shops for a while and returning to GM for 8 more years, retiring in 1990 with 20 years of service. In 1978, Bob and Margaret moved to Almont and then to Florida after retiring. In 2001, they moved back to Michigan for health reasons and to Huron County in 2005 to be nearer his daughter Sheila. Margaret preceded him in death November 28, 2005.
Bob was an avid sports fan, enjoying the Redwings, Tigers and Lions on TV. In his free time, he worked crossword puzzles. He loved working with wood and made beautiful jewelry boxes, earrings, bracelets, clocks and train whistles for his family.

Surviving are five daughters, Margo (Dan) Reinhold of Arizona, Sheila (Bob) Schafer of Elkton, Laurie Baldwin of Arizona, Elayne (Jeff) Sorna of Mt. Clemens and Stacey (Ken) Campbell of Almont; six grandchildren, Nicole Ockerman,, Ian Reinhold, Andrea (Bill) Murawski, Jr, Nathan (Vanessa) Campbell, Lucas and McKenna Campbell; eight great grandchildren, Mark Ockerman, Conner and Somer Reinhold, Kate, Molly, Mitch, Ellen and Matt Murawski; his sister, Barbara Hewson of Arizona and special friends, Gina Hurren and Janet Hatch and the staff at HCMCF who gave him their special care.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, William and John “Jack” Baldwin.
