Robert O. Berry

Robert O. Berry of Greenbush, formerly of Caro, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw. Bob was born May 20, 1942 in Caro, the son of the late Donald & Pauline (Safford) Berry. He was a 1960 graduate of Caro High School and married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Kay Andress, on June 24, 1961. Shortly after graduation, Bob enlisted with the U.S. Air Force and worked on radar equipment for the F-4 Phantom, retiring in 1981. He later took a position as a chemist for a pharmaceutical company and finished his working years as a manager and curator for the Sturgeon Point Light House. Not one for sitting still, Bob always had something that he was tinkering with. He had a natural curiosity to him and he enjoyed repairing old clocks, small engines, and anything else he could get his hands on. Bob also spent time woodworking and was a member of the Alcona County Historical Society. Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald & Debbie Berry of Goldsboro, North Carolina; one granddaughter and her husband, Sherry & Larry Lane of Rosewood, North Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Marissa Martin and Skylar Martin, both of Rosewood, North Carolina; two brothers, David & Peggy Berry of Tryon, North Carolina, Clinton Berry of Wildwood, Florida; three sisters and their spouses, Linda & Tim Kempf of Lake Orion, Paula Sue & David Lagos of Wildwood, Florida, Donna & Karl Witkowski of Cass City; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pamela Jill & Jack Hurless of Florence, Kentucky, Jay & Barb Andress of Mooresville, North Carolina, Terry & Sue Andress of Coldwater, Timothy & Ruthie Andress of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by the love of his life, Maxine Kay Berry on May 17, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Ellington Township Cemetery in Caro on Friday, August 17, 2018.
