He began his teaching career in Detroit’s Catholic schools, where he spent fifteen years shaping young minds at institutions including St. Andrews and St. Cunegunda. His love for learning extended far beyond the classroom. He brought theater, music, and creativity into the lives of his students, where he left lasting impressions.

He was known for his gentle guidance and strong sense of character, he instilled not only academic knowledge, but also the importance of values, manners, and respect. To many, he was more than a teacher; he was a mentor, role model, and friend.
Outside the classroom, Robert found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He had a deep love for gardening and took pride in raising a wide variety of animals, including cows, pigs, sheep, birds, and even peacocks. Music was another lifelong passion; he played both the accordion and piano, often sharing his talents with students, friends, and family.
Cooking and canning and sharing stories around the kitchen table was one of his favorite pastimes.
Robert formed many cherished friendships and touched countless lives over the years. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Left to cherish Robert’s by his many nieces, nephews and cousins along with a wide circle of friends and former students whose lives he profoundly influenced. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Seidler, and his special friend, Dan Nixon.
