Robert "Bob" Compeau

Robert "Bob" Compeau of Caro, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at his home. Bob was born July 2, 1938 in Bay City, the son of the late Addison and Leola (Schoepf) Compeau. He was united in marriage with the former Connie Deming on March 12, 1962 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Bob started his employment as a commercial photographer with WNEM Channel 5 in 1959, moved to Channel 9 & 10 WWTV in Cadillac from 1964 through 1968, KAKE in Witchita, Kansas from 1968 to 1976, and returned to work at WNEM Channel 5 until his retirement in 2001. During the duration of his career in television, Bob was the recipient of many awards for his photography. He was an acrylic and watercolor artist who enjoyed painting nature photos for his family, as well as being a cartoonist. Bob was a history buff, enjoyed fishing, and loved his family. As a result, he had a nickname for each family member. Bob is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Connie Compeau of Caro; two daughters, Mary Jo Goodchild and husband, Jeffrey, of Caro, Michelle Compeau of Saginaw; five grandchildren, Garrett, Grant and Ashton Goodchild, Megan Tuckey, Jennifer Krzewinski and husband, Mark; one great-granddaughter, Piper Marie Krzewinski; a special niece, Deedra Richmond and husband, Ken, of Frankenmuth, and their children, Kye, Anya and Jett Richmond; two sisters and their spouses, Betty & Jim Potts of Standish, Eileen & Larry Kowalk of Point Nipigon. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Military honors provided by the U.S. Army and Caro American Legion Post #7 will follow the service. Following cremation, burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to MSU Endowment for Autism Research, University Development, 535 Chestnut Road, Room 300, East Lansing, MI 48824.
