Robert Congdon

Robert Congdon of Caro, age 67, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Bob was born October 20, 1950 in Cass City, the son of the late Earl J. & Rachel Edith (Putman) Congdon. He was united in marriage with the former Sharon Szukala on July 24, 1970 in Detroit. Bob spent his working years with the Chrysler Corporation, first at the Lynch Road Assembly Plant in Detroit and later at Warren Stamping, in a career that spanned twenty-eight years until his retirement in 2001. His spare time was often spent metal scrapping, coin collecting, building model cars and "back door hunting." Bob enjoyed western movies and was happiest when he was watching his grandchildren. He never judged anyone as long as they agreed with him. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, of Caro; four children and their spouses, Corinna & Bob Sherman of Saginaw, Angel Congdon of Caro, Sheila & John Healy of Vassar, Sabrina Congdon of Deford; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two siblings, Jackie Palmer and her husband, Rich, Terry Congdon; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by five siblings, Mary Presley, Janet Adams, Irene Whittredge, Dave Congdon, Joan Simmons. For everyone else, Bob will "See you in a minute." Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Cass River Pet Friendz.
