Robert John Drury, 70, of Sand Point, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife and 3 adoring daughters by his side on September 16, 2017.
Bob was born on March 7, 1947 in Detroit to the late Robert E. and Lois (Lockridge) Drury. He attended Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. He graduated from Western Michigan University with his teaching degree and later continued to his Ed.S. degree in administration. His love for teaching and students began at Lakers as a business teacher, junior high principal, to business manager, and then Superintendent for 13 years. The green machine was his life for 31 years as he was influential in many beneficial projects and opportunities in the community and thoroughly enjoyed watching his three daughters play sports before retiring in 2001. His career continued to flourish well into retirement and Bob was instrumental in numerous community endeavors and served as interim superintendent at Lakers and Owendale-Gagetown to keep his passion ignited. It was obvious that he enjoyed making differences that positively affected students and families.
Bob is survived by his wife Leslie of Sand Point; daughters Betsy (Chad) Diegel of Midland, Tracy (Brian) Davies of Grand Rapids, and Stephanie (Gary) Pieczynski of Novi. In addition, there was nothing brighter nor added more value and meaning to his life than his “Super 7” grandchildren: Hope (11), Wynn (8), Waverly (6), Keegan (5), Summer (4), Blayse (2), and Crew (2). Bob is also survived by his sisters Diane (Russ) Lundberg and Sue (Mark) Koch, both of Caseville, and his wonderful nieces and nephews that he loved as his own.
