Robert William Eden

Robert William Eden of Caseville, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. He was born on October 8, 1927, in Bay Port, the son of the late William and Martha (Westphal) Eden. Bob attended Snell Country School through the tenth grade.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from May 1947 until April 1952, including service during the Korean War. For his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Service Stars.

Following his military service, Bob began a long career with Ford Motor Company. He worked on the assembly line in the paint department for forty-three years before retiring.

Bob was married to his beloved wife, Mary (Galloway) Eden, and the two shared their lives together until her passing on March 13, 2009. Bob was a quiet man who generally kept to himself, but he valued the close friendships he made throughout his life. He was a loyal and dependable friend who was always willing to lend a hand and help however he could.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed following Detroit sports and could be counted on to cheer for the Lions during football season and the Tigers throughout the summer. He had an interest in history and old cars. Bob loved playing cards and became quite the bingo player, earning a reputation as the bingo champ at several assisted living facilities where he lived.

Bob leaves to cherish his memory two nieces & their husbands, Diane & Tim Diebel and Gail & Dan Johnson; one nephew & his wife, Dennis & Patti Graham; and extended family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Eden; his parents, William and Martha Eden; brother, Albert Eden; and sisters, Elizabeth Patterson and Alberta Shelton.

Bob's graveside service will be on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
