Robert L. Grigg, age 64 of Bad Axe died Thursday evening, September 22, at his home after a seven year battle with cancer.

He was born October 7, 1946, in Pigeon to Dora “Tiny” Grigg and the late Loren Grigg and grew up in Elkton. Bob was a 1964 graduate of Laker High School and received his bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University in 1968. The following fall, he began his career in education at Bad Axe High School. He taught government, geography, psychology and forensics for 30 years retiring in 1998. After a year of retirement, he returned to the Bad Axe School District as curriculum director for five years. During his years in teaching, he coached tennis, directed school plays, coached forensics, quiz bowl, Youth in Government, and worked with the marching band program. Bob also spent 680 hours painting the art work for the sheriff’s department Safetyville Program.
He enjoyed working in his flower garden, was part of the Master Gardener garden walk in 2003 and collecting Santas- adding to his collection of more than 300 different Santas.

Surviving are his wife, Judith; three children, Sulynda (Adam) Schumacher of Bad Axe, Matthew Grigg of Milan and Mykel (Mandi) Grigg of Marshall; five grandsons, Aeron (Chelsea Boyd) Grigg of Saginaw, Dakota Kipper of Bad Axe, Trevor Hawkins, Connor and Logan Grigg all of Marshall; step granddaughter, Sierra Schumacher of Bad Axe; his mother, Tiny Grigg of Elkton; two sisters, Penny (Brent) Woodward of Elkton and Kitty (Bill) Sampson of Kinde; two brothers, Russell (Cheryl) Grigg of Essexville and Joseph (Heather) Grigg of Saginaw and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of his life will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 26, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Jerry Sutton, pastor of the Bad Axe Free Methodist Church will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Sunday and after 10 AM Monday.
Memorials may be directed to his church food pantry or landscape project, the American Cancer Society or the donor’s choice.
