Robert E Heck age 83, of Pinnebog died Sunday morning November 20, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born August 16, 1921, in Winsor Twp. at the home of his parents the late Edward and Bertha (Weiss) Heck. He went to Detroit and then to Midland for a short time and returned to Huron County in the mid forties.
On December 4, 1943, he was united in marriage to Helen B. Heck at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Linkville.
In 1946, he and Helen took over the operation of the tavern in Pinnebog, renaming it “Heck’s Bar”. In 1960, they built the brick building that’s here today, making a parking lot where the old one stood. In 1997, they retired turning it’s operate over to their children. Helen preceded Bob in death November 15 of last year. During the 51 years that he owned the bar he had also worked at Rooney Construction several years, was co operator of the Pinnebog Elevator next to the bar, and was a real estate agent with Cash Cook Reality for many years.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Kinde, past president of the Michigan Beverage Association, Huron County Beverage Association and was one of the organizers of the Huron County Health Department.
Surviving are two children, Elizabeth Heck and Robert Heck both of Pinnebog; his brother, Richard (Louise) Heck of Cheboygan; two brothers-in-law, Emil (Catherine) Heck of Ubly and Herb Stark and his friend, Mabel of Pigeon and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be conducted at St. Peters Lutheran Church Kinde with Pastor David Putz officiating. There will be no public visitation or service.
The family has suggested memorials to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 5098 Dwight, Kinde or Heartland Hospital, 1171 S. Van Dyke Rd., Bad Axe.
