Robert F. Hewitt

Robert F. Hewitt age 64, of Bay Port died Friday evening, February 24, at his home from multiple health problems.

He was born October 18, 1947, in Bad Axe, to Bernice (Yaroch) Hewitt and the late Albert Hewitt and grew up in the Port Austin area.
On August 22, 1970, he was united in marriage to Roberta A. Davies in Bad Axe. They moved to the Detroit area in 1979, where he worked as trucker for McNichols Trucking in Romulus, hauling steel, until retiring in 1992 because of a stroke. Robert moved back to Huron County and settled in Bay Port.

Surviving are two children, Garrit Hewitt of Elkton and Mary Hewitt of Bay Port; a grandson, Cody Minix of Jackson; his mother, Bernice Bean of Port Austin; a brother, Albert Hewitt of Caseville and two sisters, Linda (Curt) Birchfield of Clinton, WV and Sharon (Chet) O’Cull of Grindstone.
Preceding him in death was a son, Michael and a brother, Dennis.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 29, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Port Austin. Fr. Nate Harburg will officiate with interment in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Friends may call at the church from 9 until the time of services on Wednesday
