Robert Leitzel

Robert Leitzel, age 72, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 30, 2009. Bob was born January 18, 1937 in Detroit, the son of the late Willard & Minnie (Pebbles) Leitzel. Following high school, Bob joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In December of 1967, he was united in marriage with the former Jennifer Canapini in Detroit. Bob continued his service with the Air Force Reserves and was employed by the Department of Defense at Selfridge Air Base. He would later work for the Department of Defense at the Defense Logistics Agency, retiring in 1992. He moved from Rochester Hills to Cass City in 2005. During his free time, Bob enjoyed watching sports on television and gathering family history. He was a longtime member of the VFW and was very proud of his service in the military. Bob is survived by his wife, Jennifer Leitzel of Mayville; two children, Lisa Bishop of Cass City and Jesse Leitzel of Mayville; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Olive G. Lawrence of Caro and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert Storms Leitzel, Jr. in 1998; two brothers, Gilbert and David Leitzel; and one sister, Jessie LaFever.
