Robert "Pops" "Bob" Lipe

Robert "Pops" Lipe of Caro, age 81, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at his home. Bob was born November 27, 1940 in Pontiac, the son of the late Brooks and Dorothy (Hudson) Lipe. He was united in marriage with Shirley (Watson) Umphrey on December 8, 2001 at the Wahjamega Country Church. Shirley preceded him in death on June 19, 2019. Bob was a coalminer in Beckley, West Virginia for many years before moving to Caro. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, and was a champion at the Walmart "crane game." The things most important to him were spending time with family, cutting grass, and riding his golf cart. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Paul Jr. & Tammy Losey, David & Goldie Losey, Russell Umphrey, Michael & Ruth Umphrey, Lucinda Ernst; two brothers and their spouses, Darrold & Sandra Lipe, Ted & Deb Powell; and sister-in-law, Diane Lipe. Bob was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Lipe; infant sister, Donna Lipe; and son-in-law, Dale Ernst. Funeral services will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery.
