Robert C. Maharg

Robert C. Maharg of Mayville, age 85, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at St. Mary's of Michigan following a period of declining health. He was born November 30, 1927 in Cass City, the son of the late Earl and Gladys (Little) Maharg. Bob was united in marriage with the former Francine Nickert on December 16, 1950 in Caro. He was passionate about farming and spent the majority of his life in that vocation. Throughout the years, he operated a dairy farm, raised mink, chickens and registered Aberdeen Angus Cattle. He was a member of the Steele Headers Association and was an avid trout fisherman, deer hunter and gardener. Bob is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Francine Maharg of Mayville; his children, Vickie Suchland of New Breman, Ohio, Susan & Bill Prince of Flint, Joanne & Tony Zelinski of Clare, James Maharg of Zephyr Cove, Nevada and Robert Maharg of Taylor; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Maharg; and one grandson, Richard Maharg. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Keith Mead officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation will follow the service.
