Robert "Bob" Mcleod

Robert "Bob" McLeod of Caro, age 85, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at his home. Bob was born May 1, 1937 in Caro, the son of the late Phillip & Mildred (Bland) McLeod. Bob attended Caro High School with the class of 1955 and enlisted with the United State Navy serving on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. Following his honorable discharge in 1958, Bob started a job with the Village of Caro as a water meter reader, and within six months became the Superintendent of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, retiring in 1998. Bob was also a volunteer firefighter with the Caro Fire Department and worked as a realtor in the area. He was united in marriage with the love of his life, Frances David on May 3, 1958, one day after beginning what would be a forty-year career with the Village of Caro, and two days after his twenty-first birthday. The couple was blessed with fifty-two years of marriage before Frances passed away in 2011. Bob was an outdoorsman at heart and loved nothing more than spending time on the water fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, trapping, and riding in his beloved Model-A. His summers were spent at Wa-Wen Resort on Drummond Island where Bob made countless friends who became like a second family and was proud of his fish fries. He never met a stranger and had a disarming personality that endeared him to anyone he encountered. Bob is survived by four children and their spouses, Kathleen & Glenn Tate, Robert McLeod II and his significant other, Sue McLean, James McLeod, Cheri McLeod; six grandchildren, Chris Fielder, Stephanie Sholes, Jessica Sholes, Joshua Sholes, Colton Tate, and Kimberley Montle; six great-grandchildren; five siblings, Dixie Menzel, David & Sulyn McLeod, Laura & Paul McDonald, Helen Corbin, and James Cypert; many nieces and nephews; his beloved rat terrier, Lady; and many close friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary (Barkovich) McLeod who he loved as his own mother; and three siblings, John Bossert, Lena Cockerill, and Danny Bossert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the Caro Nazarene Church with Rev. Paul McNett officiating. Burial will follow at a later time at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. Bob's family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Visitation Information Date: Wednesday, December 21, 2022 Time: 5:00 pm End Time: 8:00 pm Bob's family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Service Information Date: Thursday, December 22, 2022 Time: 11:00 am Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the Caro Nazarene Church with Rev.
