Robert E. Mcpherson

Robert E. McPherson of Akron, formerly of Atlanta, Michigan, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 12, 2015 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw. He was born May 10, 1935 in Caro, the son of the late Clare and Ruth (Godwin) McPherson, and was raised and lived in the Akron area most of his live. Bob was united in marriage with the former Kay Kintner of July 23, 1955 in Akron. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2006. Bob was employed with Dow Chemical in Bay City for nearly thirty years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Akron United Methodist Church and enjoyed building the houses he and his wife would eventually live in. Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being with his dog, " Molly." Bob is survived by two daughters, Kathy Finn of Akron, Leigh Ann McPherson-Ewald and her husband, John, of Fairgrove; six grandchildren, Christopher (Christine), Heath (Gail), Robert, Mandy (Jeff), Heather, and Leah; ten great-grandchildren, Emma, Jacob, Kilee, Brenna, Gracie, Jayden, Jamey, Tiffany, Elizabeth "Boo" and Ella; one sister, Kay Price and her husband, William, of Hudsonville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Sattelberg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Akron United Methodist Church in Akron with Rev. Dorothy Thon officiating. In keeping with Robert's wishes, cremation will follow the service. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
