Robert E. Moore

Robert E. Moore of Caro, age 81, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at his home, following a lingering illness. Bob was born June 19, 1933 in Fowlerville, Michigan, the son of the late Floyd and Eliza (Edwards) Moore, and came to Caro from Livonia in 1965. He was a graduate of Fowlerville High School and Michigan State University. He was united in marriage with the former Lois Wilcher on August 13, 1955 in Detroit, and she survives him. For a short period of time, Bob managed his family's auto dealership in Fowlerville after his father's death. In 1965, Bob and Bill Burton purchased the Ford Franchise in Caro and Bob would eventually become the owner and operator of the Ford-Lincoln-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram dealership in Caro. He greatly enjoyed his work and the many friends he made during his professional career. In his free time, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, puttering around the house, reading and traveling. He was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church, Caro Rotary Club and the Caro Mt. Moriah Lodge #226 F&AM. Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Lois W. Moore of Caro; two children, Susan and her husband, Robert "Rob" Thayer, of Kalamazoo, R. Bradley Moore of Caro; five grandchildren, Brad Thayer, Kate Thayer, both of Kalamazoo, Meredith, Adelyn and Jacob Moore of Caro; three sisters, Joyce & Richard Bailey of Okemos, Elizabeth Sielski of Grand Haven, Edith Squires of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one son, Todd W. Moore in 1983; and his father- and mother-in-law, Guynn & Elizabeth Wilcher. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Caro United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society, or Wellspring Lutheran Services, Hospice and Homecare in Frankenmuth.
