Robert Burton Morrison

Robert Burton Morrison of Caro, age 88 passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023 at McLaren Lapeer Region with his family by his side. He was born August 11, 1934 at home in Caro, the son of the late Burton and Estella (Hicks) Morrison. Bob graduated from Caro high school and went on to obtain his bachelor's in teaching from Central Michigan University with the class of 1956. While in college, Bob began dating the former, Joyce Lee Young. They fell in love and eloped on May 26, 1956 in Angola, Indiana. Together they shared over sixty-seven years, three wonderful children, and countless memories. After Bob had graduated college, he taught in Saline for one year and then went to Mayville where he taught for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1996. Not only did he teach a number of subjects, from business and typing to driver's education, he also was a school bus driver, coach, and a yearbook staff advisor. He even taught all his children and grandchildren to drive. In the early 1970's Bob went back to Central Michigan University for his Master's in education. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Caro and a volunteer at the Boy Scout camp, where he taught archery. Bob enjoyed fishing with his brother Lee, hunting, and anything to do with the outdoors. He liked trips up to the family cabin in Mio, where you could always find him journaling or adventuring with Joyce. Bob and Joyce loved to travel and go on camping trips with the family. He always had a smile on his face and a camera in his hand, making sure to never miss a moment. Bob loved to tease everyone and always gave the best advice, whether you wanted to hear it or not. Above all else, Bob adored his family, and made sure they knew it by showing up to every event no matter what. His laughter, devotion, and love will be missed beyond measure for years to come. Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Joyce; children, Patricia (Bill Teeple) Crosby and Susan (Rob) Downing; grandchildren, Justin (Heather), Jillian, Juli, Kari (Don), Bryan, Kristy, Aimee (Jim), and Jamie (Matthew); twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Kay McCollum; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
