Robert N. Rigg, age 83 years, of Vassar, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. He was born on June 14, 1924 in Detroit to the late John and Jean (Dutch) Rigg and came to Vassar as a child. He and the former June Wilber were married on October 4, 1947. Robert was a devoted and loving husband, caring for her after she became disabled in 1991. He retired from The Saginaw News as a printer after a thirty year career. Robert was proud to serve his country during World War II. He was a member of the Armys First Division (the Big Red One) in the D-Day invasion of Normandy Beach and the “Battle of the Bulge”. Surviving are his wife, June, of Caro; three children, Jolene (Patrick) Kennedy of Kalamazoo, Susan (Philip) Marcy of Frankenmuth and Jim (Dairlis) Rigg of Caro; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Stacer of Vassar; and one brother, Joseph (Dee) Rigg of Tawas City. Also surviving are his two life time war buddies, Ralph Puhalovich and Don Powers. Robert was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jack Rigg. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. There will be no service or visitation at the Collon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in memory of Robert N. Rigg, 1285 Cleaver Road, Caro, MI 48723.
