Robert A. "Bob" Roedel

Robert A. Roedel of Caro, age 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Robert was born October 14, 1946 in Saginaw, the son of the late Albert & Lorna Marie (Loesel) Roedel and graduated from Frankenmuth High School with the class of 1964. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict in the Demilitarized Zone. Upon his return from the service, he began training to become a paramedic, a position he held for over thirty years with Bay Medical Center. Robert was united in marriage for forty-three years with the former Margot Mantle Gwiazdowski on August 27, 1970 in Frankenmuth, who he cherished, honored and served to his last day. Following his retirement from Bay Medical Center, Robert began a fifteen year career as a respiratory therapist. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who placed the needs of others over himself. He was a man of strong character who modeled a work ethic to be admired and followed by those who knew him. He passed along these traits to his children who will carry on his legacy beyond his years. Robert is survived by his wife, Margot; four children and their spouses, Eric J. & Kris Gwiazdowski of Rochester Hills, Wayne & Lisa Roedel of Fowlerville, Nancy J. Bartholomew of Saginaw, Amy & Steve Baker of Saginaw; nine grandchildren, Chas and Robert Gwiazdowski, Olivia, Emma and Grace Roedel, Andrew and Jakobie Bartholomew, Thomas and Tyler Baker; one sister, Anne Bentley of Homer; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
