Robert L. Roller

Robert L. Roller of Lansing, age 76, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Burcham Hills in East Lansing. Robert was born on September 7, 1947 in Bay City, the son of the late Marion (Stoll) Roller and Elmer & Alice (Hartwell) Roller. He graduated from Unionville High School with the class of 1965 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in science in 1969 from Michigan State University. Following graduation, Robert was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Texas working in engineering. After two years of service, he was honorably discharged and returned to the Lansing area. Robert was employed by the Lansing Board of Water & Light as an environmental specialist, retiring in 2006. Prior to taking that position, he served as a supervisor for the Tri-County Regional Planning Committee and worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He volunteered at the local soup kitchens during the holidays and was always there to help when needed. Robert was a die-hard Spartan fan and loved watching the Detroit Tigers; he had a huge collection of Detroit Tigers baseball cards.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his brothers & sister-in-law, Stuart & Sue Roller of Caro and Dale E. Roller of Saginaw; stepbrother, Dale & Janet Ewald of Sebewaing; nephew, Kevin & Shelly Roller of Dexter; niece, Michelle Joslyn of Caro; eight great-nieces and great-nephews, Matthew, Kelsey, Isabella, Alexis, and Collin Roller, all of Dexter, and Isaac, Emma, and Luke Joslyn, all of Caro.

In keeping with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Unionville Moravian Church.
