Robert Edward Schank

Robert Edward Schank of Caro, age 70, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw. Bob was born December 28, 1946 in Lapeer, the son of the late George and Betty Jane (Bonniewell) Schank. He graduated from North Branch High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army that same year, serving in Vietnam. Bob was united in marriage with the former Sharon Titus on April 1, 1978 at the Colwood Church in Caro. He was employed as a custodian at Tuscola County Intermediate Schools, and along with his wife, owned the Caro Bait and Tackle Shop and the Family Affair Craft Shop. Bob was Commander of the Caro VFW Post #4164 for fifteen years, served as District Commander of the VFW, and was active in all of the activities of the Post, whether it be Bingo, driving the DAV van to transport fellow veterans, or participating in military honors. Bob also taught hunter safety for many years. His hobbies were fishing, watching Detroit Tigers baseball, spending time with his family, woodworking, and in younger years, he was a Little League coach. Bob is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Sharon; three children and their spouses, Rick & Jordan Schank, Joe & Ann Schank, Robin & Tim Parks; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Schank; brother-in-law, Bob Titus; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Schank; sisters-in-law, Ruth Schank, Judy Titus and Patty Titus; and a grandson, Tyler Schank. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Arnold Burger officiating. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery, in Caro, with military honors afforded by the Caro VFW Post #4164 and the U.S. Army.
