Robert L. Schember

Robert L. Schember age 83, of Elkton died peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 8, at his home.

He was born May 12, 1930, at the home of his parents, the late Alfred and Lydia (Staehli) Schember, in Oliver Twp. After graduating from the Flowing Well School, Bob worked on the family farm for a while, before getting a job at Active Industries, Elkton. He worked there more than thirty years before retiring for health reasons.
On September 24, 1949, he was united in marriage to Donnajean Bailey at the Harbor Beach Church of the Nazarene and made their home in Elkton. Donnajean passed away December 16, 2000.

After retiring, Bob started a small engine service and repair shop out of his home to keep himself busy. In his later years, he enjoyed playing bingo, putting together puzzles, bird watching and the Detroit Tigers.

Surviving are eight children, Robert (Linda) Schember, Jr. of Caro, Bonnie (Dan) Briesmiester of Owendale, Linda (Frank) Ahearn of Bad Axe, Brenda (Rick) Love of Elkton, Randy (Mary) Schember of Elkton, Darlene (Kevin) Click of Magnolia, DE, Terry (Linda) Schember of Elkton and Connie (Allen) Zimmerman of Bad Axe; 26 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and six brothers, Clarence (Kate) Schember of Cass City, Earl (Doris) Schember of Gagetown, Jerry (Jane) Schember of Goodells, Edward Schember of Elkton and Wayne Schember of Pigeon; his sister, Alene McCracken of Bad Axe and sister-n-law, Lucille Schember of Elkton.

Preceding him in death was a son, Ronald; a sister, Evelyn Haley and three brothers, Walter, Kenneth and Olin Schember.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Sunday at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton where friends may call from 2 until the time of services.
