Robert Kenneth "Bob" Stahl, 82 of Bay Port, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region.
Born in Bay Port on August 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles and Emma (Rowe) Stahl and graduated from the Quarry School. He served as part of the Marine Rifle Company and was Assistant Gunner with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War conflict from 1952-1954, and was wounded by a grenade in October, 1952. He received the Korean Service Medal, the UN Service Medal, Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Medal, and the Bronze Star Award.
On April 16, 1965 he was married to Carol Louise VanNortrick in Owendale.
Robert was a fisherman at the Gillingham Fish Company in Bay Port, then worked at the Wallace Stone Quarry, also in Bay Port, and retired in November, 1996. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, baseball, and football. He was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church, Sebewaing.
His survivors include his wife, Carol; children: Robert K. Stahl, Jr. of Bay Port, Jane L. (Dennis) Himmel of Bay Port, Peggy S. Karl (Andrew L. Larkins) of Caseville, Bradley W. (Belinda) Stahl of Owendale, Illene A. (Edwin) Pasek of Owendale, Colleen A. Forman (Terry Smith) of Caseville, John A. Stahl of Bay Port, and Jason A. Stahl of Bay Port; grandchildren: Amanda (Charles) Kester, Courtney Stahl, Robert E. Stahl, Sarah Himmel, Joleen Karl, Nicholas (Sara) Sanchez, Mason Pasek, Addison Pasek, Chantal Forman, Chalon Forman, and Ethan Dixon; step grandchildren: Thomas Larkins, Emily Larkins, Chelsea Alfini, and Mark Alfini; and great-grandchildren: Ahlyna Sanchez, Dayton Sanchez, Azaylia Collins, Jasper Kester, and Cesilia Kester. He was preceded in death by sons Roy William and Paul William; and siblings, Alice Stahl, Doris Hyde, Junior Stahl, Paul Stahl, Cecil Stahl, and Charles Voelker.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Rev. Tom Cass officiating. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family discretionary fund.
