Robert Sylvester

Robert Wayne Sylvester, age 70, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2011 at United Hospice Service Residence in Marlette. He was born on June 28, 1940 in Auburn Heights to the late George A. and Lucille (Wheaton) Sylvester. With the exception of four years in the U.S. Air Force, Bob was a lifelong resident of Tuscola County. He was a Kingston High School graduate, and after serving in the Air Force he began his 26 year career with General Motors; working on the assembly line, as a press operator, and finally a fork lift operator at Saginaw Steering Gear. On October 31, 1965 he was united in marriage with the former Esther Traster at the Dayton Center Church. She preceded him in death. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and tinkering with a variety of projects. He is survived by his children, Sherrie Mc Connell of Cass City, David (Tina) Sylvester of Caro, and Paul Lee Sylvester of Cass City; nine grandchildren, Sara Mc Connell of Caro, Jessica Mc Connell of Caro, Troy Mc Connell, Jr. of Caro, Renee Mc Connell at home, Brett Mc Connell at home, Dakota at home, Logan Sylvester at home, Jacob Sylvester at home, Alexander Sylvester at home; one great-granddaughter, Julianna Mc Connell; his siblings, Geraldine (Joseph) Kloc of Marlette, Charlotte Wright of Caro, Melvin Sylvester of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Linda Lowe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Sylvester, Jr., and a son-in-law, Troy Mc Connell Sr. The memorial service will be held at the Ellington Church of the Nazarene on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Comfort, officiating. In accordance with Roberts wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation held at the Collon Funeral Home.
