Robert K. Towler, age 82, of Caseville, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.
Robert was born May 28, 1929 in Mount Morris to the late Norman F. and Mary (Edmonds) Towler. He served in the US Army, receiving the Bronze Star for his efforts while fighting in Korea as well as a Purple Heart. On August 18, 1962 he married Bobbie Jean Wood in Highland Park.
Having started working for GM in 1951, he retired in 1980 from GM Ypsilanti as a skilled trades foreman. After retiring in 1980, he moved from Westland to Caseville before moving to Alabama in 1994. In 2010, he moved back to Caseville. He was a proud member of the Masons and the Shriners, a volunteer fireman in Alabama, and he enjoyed playing the church organ and singing in the choir.
Surviving are his wife Bobbie; children Debbie (Robert) Sielaff of Royal Oak, Robert of Glennie, Steven of Westland and Kathleen (Ronald) Siepierski of Walled Lake; grandchildren John Robert, Yolanta, Steven, Dawn and Khristee; great-grandchildren Savannah, Trinnity and Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Ann Joslin.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday at the Caseville United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Fuller officiating. Urn burial will be in Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville.
Memorials may be made to the food pantry of the Caseville United Methodist Church.
