Robert E. Wasielewski of Vassar, age 85, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw. Bob was born September 30, 1935 in Vassar to the late Edward and Helen (Bennick) Wasielewski and was a 1954 graduate of Mayville High School. Following graduation, Bob joined the U. S. Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and served his country as an equipment mechanic and diesel engine repairman. On October 5. 1963, he married the former Carol Ederer at St. Peter and Paul Church in Saginaw. Bob was a farmer as well as a machine repairman for General Motors at the Saginaw Steering Gear facility, retiring in 1986 following thirty-two years of service. After retirement, Bob continued to farm and also worked at MidWest Water Treatment. Throughout his life, he was a family man as well as being community minded. He was a member of Caro Moose Lodge 1049, Vassar Eagles 2380, the Polish American Club in Caro, Mayville Lions, and P.L.A.V. Bob was committed to the growth of his sons and supported them in all their sporting activities. His love of sports and generosity led him to be a founding member of the Mayville Athletic Association. Left to cherish Bob's memory are his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Carol; two sons and their wives, Edward & Judi of Caro, Eugene & Nikki of Moores Hill, Indiana; four grandchildren, Bradney & Krystin, Helena & Josh, Katie and Terry (Samantha); four great-grandchildren, Easton, Kadence, Kirkley, and Kamlee; three sisters, Arlene Hoag of Vassar, Onaleigh & Donald Andrews of Brighton, Sylvia Putnam of Vassar; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, LeRoy Hoag and Donald Putnam. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Christopher Coman officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation will follow the service and burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly with military honors provided by the U. S. Army. Memorial contributions in Bob's memory may be made to the Mayville Lions Club. Please follow COVID 19 guidelines when attending.
