Robert Lee Wurm, age 90, of Sebewaing, passed away April 19, 2019, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.
Robert was born April 27, 1928, in Farmington, to the late Arnold and Katherine (Wagner) Wurm. He attended New Salem Evangelical Lutheran Parochial School and Sebewaing High School. He married Olive Jeanine Zapfe on November 27, 1948, at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, where they remained members.
During Robert's working career, he was a movie film truck driver, railroad maintenance worker, plasterer, Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry worker and at Sebewaing Light Plant in electrical engine power maintenance. But he spent most of his later career as a dragline operator, employed by Tietz Construction and lastly retiring from Easlick Construction. He and Jean enjoyed traveling and camping. They visitated family near and far, set up camp while he was working throughout Michigan and Wisconsin as a dragline operator and made a big trip to Alaska and back, camping all the way. Robert also enjoyed restoring antique vehicles, hunting and fishing.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jean of 70 years; daughters, Deborah Andrakowicz and Cynthia (Randall) Buchholz; grandchildren: Lisa (John) McCain and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Buchholz; great grandchildren: Connor and Carson McCain and Jameson Buchholz; brothers and sister-in-laws: Floyd (Bud) Zapfe, Iris Bauer, Orval and Helen Zapfe and Daniel Thaut.
Robert is preceded in death by siblings and their spouses: Ralph and Marion Payment, Edward Mill and Helma Mill Koch, Donald and Pearl Wurm, Louis Wurm and Dr. Douglas and Ruby Johnson; father and mother-in-law: Floyd and Ida Zapfe; brothers and sister-in-laws: Doris Louise Zapfe, Harold Zapfe, David Bauer, Gordon and Lillian Roe, Rose Zapfe and Deloris Thaut; son-in-law, Stanley Andrakowicz.

A joint memorial service for Jean and Robert will be held Friday, August 9, 2019, at 11am with visitation beginning at 10am at New Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, with Pastor William Mayhew officiating.
Memorial donations may be given to New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing.
