Roberta and John Green of Caro, age 76 and 84, passed away on September 28, 2021 and September 29, 2021 respectively at McLaren - Bay Region in Bay City. Roberta was born January 13, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Marion and Doris (Sieving) Smith and was a 1963 graduate of T.L. Handy High School in Bay City. Roberta and John were united in marriage on August 13, 1966 in Bay City and the couple had celebrated fifty-five years of marriage prior to their passing. Roberta went on to attend Northeastern School of Commerce and transferred to Delta to study banking management. She was a Sunday School teacher and enjoyed flowers, cooking, and playing games with family. John was born August 25, 1937 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of the late John & Gertrude (Potter) Green and was a 1955 graduate of North Providence High School. He served his country with the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963 and 1969 to 1973 and was a proud Vietnam veteran. John went on to study at Central Michigan University and Delta College and worked in the addiction/counseling programs as a probation officer until his retirement in June of 2007. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in health education with a minor in psychology, Associate Degree in liberal arts and sciences with honors, certificate in professional studies, and an associate degree in management. John had a passion for gardening and was determined each year to have a ripe tomato by the Fourth of July. This was a proud accomplishment for him. Roberta and John were a very loving couple with a deep love for family. They both strongly and passionately expressed their faith in Jesus Christ. Left to cherish their memory are three children, John & Nancy (Guinther) Green of Cass City, Lucinda Ambs of Flint, Timothy & Brooke (Campbell) Green of Caro; four grandchildren, Brett Green, Britney, Braylon and Brianna Ambs; Roberta's siblings, Gloria Blakely and Chester Smith; John's siblings, Linda Green, Peter & Deborah Green, and Penny Stanley; and bonus children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by three siblings, Janice Morse, Sharon Eckinger and Charles Smith. Funeral services will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro with military honors afforded by the U.S. Army and the Caro American Legion Post #7.
