Roberto Vela

Roberto Vela of Caro, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro, following a period of declining health. Roberto was born June 29, 1924 in Texas, the son of the late Jose Maria and Angelita (Limon) Vela. He was united in marriage with Maria De La Luz Torres on May 2, 1944 in Mission, Texas, and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2016. Roberto was a laborer in the agriculture industry with short stints with GM and the Vassar Foundry. In addition to his family, he enjoyed tinkering with his tractors and vehicles. Roberto is survived by nine children; twenty-seven grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Burial will follow at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro.
