Roderick Hood

Roderick V. Hood, age 91, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the United Hospice Residence in Marlette, following a brief illness. Rod was born May 10, 1921 in Mayville, the son of the late William & Gladys (Marsh) Hood. He was united in marriage with the former Wanda Rock on July 12, 1944 in Caro, and the couple celebrated more than sixty-two years together before her death in 2007. Rod spent his working years as an attendant at the Caro Regional Center as well as being a dairy and crop farmer. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and reading. Left to cherish Rods memory are three children and their spouses, Roger & Darleen Hood of Caro, Rhonda & Kenneth Rushlo of Mayville, Marsha & Chuck Miller of Caro; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one more on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Dayton Center Cemetery in Mayville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to United Hospice Service or My Friends Care Cancer Fund for Lauren Hood.
