Rodney Wayne Corkins

Rodney Wayne Corkins of Fostoria, age 64, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at his home. Rod was born March 27, 1954 in Saginaw, the son of the late Carl and Ellen (Donnelly) Corkins. He was united in marriage with the former Cheryl Johnson on November 4, 1972 in Vassar. Rod had been employed at Detgens Block Plant in Juniata, Bostick Foundry in Lapeer, and latest at Astech Foundry in Vassar. Rod enjoyed his time as a 4-H leader, and loved hunting, fishing, and flea markets. Being a handy man, there wasn't a lawn mower he couldn't fix. Although family was very important to him, his dogs held a special place in his heart, Molly, Pepper, Nick, Holly, and "attack cat" Corky, and Sam. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-six years, Shari; two daughters, Kina Corkins of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Deena Corkins of North Branch; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony "Buck" & Dixie Corkins of Imlay City; grandson and spouse, Tyler & SarahAnn Corkins of North Branch; two granddaughters, Aleashea Swift of Richmond Hill, and Hunter Barrett of Imlay City; great-grandchildren, Peyton & Matthew Corkins of North Branch, Melanin Swift of Richmond Hill, Georgia; and one brother and spouse, Gary & Carol Corkins of Caro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Darin Fenner; one niece, Tina Aymer; and one brother, Leonard Corkins. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Dominion Life Ministries Church of God, 401 West Jenny Street, Bay City, MI with Pastor Mestisha Castleberry officiating.
