Roger H. Gainforth, age 76, of Sebewaing, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016, at Evergreen Pines Nursing Home in Essexville.
Roger was born May 22, 1940, in Unionville, to the late Harold and Margaret (Saelens) Gainforth. He worked as a truck driver for American Brown Hoist, DHT Trucking and Sebewaing Industries (Tower). He enjoyed playing cards, boating, fishing, golfing, antique cars, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, working, Detroit Tigers, Nascar, and in his younger years he enjoyed camping.
Roger is survived by his children and grandchildren: Lorrie and Allen Sakon of Sebewaing and children: Jeff and Jodi Sakon, David and Sara Sakon, Lindsey and Andy Irion; Scott and Gloria Gainforth of Unionville and children: Adam Gainforth, Ashley and Kyle Richardson; Rod Gainforth of Sebewaing and his children: Nicole and Sydney Gainforth; Roxana and John Schlund of Auburn and children: Devan, Emily and Katie Schlund; Lee and Jennifer Gainforth of Sebewaing and child Claire Gainforth; Rocky R. Gainforth of Ranchchester Wyoming and his children: Rocky, Dustin, Nathan, Niomi, Chevy and Evelyn Gainforth; 9 great grandchildren; his sister, Percilla (Jim) Gokey of Unionville; and mother of his children, Marie Kindler; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Gainforth; and grandson, William R. Gainforth.
A memorial visitation and service will take place Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at 11am until the time of service at 3pm.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
