Roger Lewis Sholes

It is with great sadness that the Sholes family announces the passing of Roger Lewis Sholes, age 70, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at his home, with his loving wife, Nancy, by his side. His family and friends are dearly heartbroken, but know that he is at peace with our Lord. Roger was born October 26, 1951 in Marlette, the son of the late George and Gladys (Lake) Sholes. He grew up in Silverwood and graduated from Mayville High School in 1970. It was in high school that Roger met the love of his life, the former Nancy DuFrene. They were united in marriage in March of 1972. Together they shared nearly fifty years of marriage, two wonderful sons, and countless memories. Roger worked at General Motors Corporation - Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring in 2000 after thirty dedicated years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all his life. Roger spent many hours hunting near his home and enjoyed using his boat and fishing with his sons. Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy Sholes of Caro; two sons, Jeremy and Ryan; beloved grandchildren, Kelsey, Tyler, and Kaila; great-grandson, Brentley; siblings, Barry Sholes of Leland, Melody Sholes of Davison, Joe Sholes of Springfield, Tennessee, Scott Sholes of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by six siblings, Patrick Sholes, Gary Sholes, George Sholes, Bill Sholes, Jack Sholes, and Tina Yeager. In keeping with Roger's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life is being planned for the springtime. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society of Michigan.
