Roland W. Bechler, age 85 of Pigeon, passed away peacefully on August 8th, 2015 in Bad Axe.
Roland was born in Pigeon on September 11th, 1929. His father William Bechler owned and operated the Pigeon Dairy. Roland graduated from Pigeon High School in 1947.
In 1950, Roland married the love of his life, Phyllis McInally of Kingston. They were married for 61 wonderful years.
Roland and Phyllis lived in Royal Oak for eight years where Roland worked for Consumers Power Company as a technician. He and Phyllis were active members of the Royal Oak First Baptist Church as youth leaders, members of the choir and hosts of the newly married couples.
Roland and Phyllis moved to Pigeon in 1958 to start a family. Roland owned a trucking business until he and Phyllis opened and operated the Lamplighter restaurant in Pigeon for 15 years. They were active members of Salem United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
He is survived by his children, Julie (Shawn) and grand-daughters Kristen and Megan, Douglas (Darcy), and Philip (Ruby); his brother Clare (Donna); and nieces and nephews. Mr. Bechler is preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis; his parents, William and LuAnna; his brother Robert; and his sister Pearl.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon, with Lay Leader Gus Garman officiating. Burial will be in West Burlington Cemetery, Silverwood.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Tuesday, August 11 4-8 p.m.
AND AT SALEM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, PIGEON:
Wednesday, August 12 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m.
