Ronald W. Campbell, age 79, of Lee Hill Rd., Caro, died on Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Covenant Health Care - Harrison Campus in Saginaw. He was born on April 29, 1926 in Steinman, Virginia. Mr. Campbell was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Army. On October 25, 1947 he married the former Zulla Rose in Clintwood, Virginia. They have enjoyed 58 years of marriage. In 1949 the Campbells moved from Virginia to the Detroit area living downstate until moving to their home in Wells Township in January of 1988. Until his retirement, Mr. Campbell was employed as tool crib attendant with Acme Manufacturing Company in Auburn Hills. He was a member of the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. He is survived by his wife, Zulla Campbell; six children, Rhonda Antilla of Avoca, Sharon Dawson of Caro, Karen (Harvey) Rinke of Hazel Park, Ralph Campbell of Royal Oak, Cretia (Ron) Hill of Royal Oak and David (Karie) Campbell of Madison Heights; eleven grandchildren, Mindy Hickerson of Farmington Hills, Gary Antilla of Avoca, Salena Antilla of Jedo, Keith Hurd of Warren, Joy Campbell of Royal Oak, James Campbell of Royal Oak, Jonathan Rinke of Hazel Park, Jeremey Antilla of Avoca and Allison, Caitlin and Rachel Campbell all of Madison Heights; seven great-grandchildren, Kolton, Eathan, Christopher, Justin, and Maria Antilla, Colton and Elxis Hickerson; five siblings, Don Campbell of Clinchco, Virginia, Verba Flemming of Clintwood, Virginia, Veronica (Elmer) Edwards of Lexington, North Carolina, Ruby (Merlin) Widden of Thonotosassa, Florida and Margaret (Gary). Turner of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were one brother, Haskell Campbell; and two sisters-in-law, Venie and Lois Campbell; and one brother-in-law, Jack Flemming. The funeral will be held at Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4. 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand, Officiating. Burial will be at East Dayton Township Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be afforded by the Caro V.F.W. Post #4164. Visitation will be at Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Ronald Campbell Family Discretionary Fund c/o Zulla Campbell.
