Ronald E. Comfort

Ronald E. Comfort of Howell, formerly of Caro, age 72, answered the call from his Savior and went to his eternal home on Friday, November 24, 2017. The pain and physical struggles that his earthly body faced were traded for a glorious new body free from defect. Ron was born September 18, 1945 in Albion, the son of the late Ned and Irma Comfort. While attending Olivet Nazarene University, Ron was drafted and enlisted in the Navy. After being discharged from the Navy, he returned to ONU where he met his bride, Sandi Mellish, and together they enjoyed forty-six years of marriage. Ron totally enjoyed being a father to Jay, now married to Janelle Morgan, and Cari Lynn, now married to Jeremy Gomez. His favorite role however was being grandpa to Caleb, Tyler, GraceAnne and Jacob. Ron felt God's call into the ministry in 1980 and began pastoring at Community Church of the Nazarene, a small new start church in St. Mary's Ohio. He pastored a total of six churches; St. Mary's, New Breman, West Jefferson, all in Ohio; East Flint, Argentine and Ellington, all in Michigan. He also served as interim pastor in Grand Ledge and Holly. He loved pastoring, preaching the Word of God, and mentoring. He preached his last sermon at Southwest Church of the Nazarene on October 22, 2017. Ron was a sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, and being in God's great outdoors. While at Ellington, he loved riding his motorcycle, which his congregation lovingly nicknamed "Visitation" so he could truthfully say he was out on visitation. He loved spending time with his family and many loved ones that God placed in his path. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor and friend.
