Ronald B. Cunningham, 84, of Sand Point, formerly of Elkton, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at his home.
Ron was born August 18, 1936 in Detroit to the late Cosmas and Margaret (Montie) Cunningham. He served in the US Army, stationed in Germany. On November 8, 1958 he married Shirley Murphy at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Detroit; together they raised six children until she preceded him in death November 12, 1995.
Ron moved to Elkton in 1970. He worked in the banking industry and was owner of Ron’s Party Store in Elkton from 1973 until he sold the store to his son Dave in 1998, when he retired. He was a member of the Elkton Lions and Century Oaks Golf Course where he enjoyed Tuesday night league.
Surviving are his children Ann (Jim) LePage of Illinois, Mary Cunningham of Cass City, Cathy (Tim) Nee of Illinois, Dave (Deb) Cunningham of Sand Point and Jean (Tim) Hattendorf of Illinois; grandchildren Matt, Becky, Katie, Julie, Maggie, Greg, Lauren, Bryan, Trent, Karly and Riley; great-grandchildren Rose, Audrey, John, August and Violet; and sister Patricia (Ronald) Ghedotti. He was preceded in death by his son Ronald and brother Kenneth.
A memorial will be at a later date. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
