Elkton

Ronald L Farver age 80, of Elkton passed away peacefully Thursday morning, October 20, with his family at his bedside.

He was born September 8, 1936 in Chandler Twp. at the home of his parents, the late Floyd and Dorothy (Furness) Farver.  He grew up on a farm north of Elkton and graduated from Elkton High School in 1954.

On April 21, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marge E. McCarty at the Elkton Methodist Church.

Ron was a worker, he started working at Pigeon Mfg. right out of high school, the Neeb Corp. for four years. In 1960, he worked as a bus mechanic, as well as, driving for Lakers. While doing that, he was delivering milk for Elkton (Bailey) Dairy. In 1969, the Mobil Station in town became available; he operated it until 1983, when it became a party store. Ron continued work as a mechanic in his own shop for three years, then went to Brighton Metals, Caseville until it closed in 1989. In 1990, he was employed at Bumhoffer Surge retiring in 2002.

Ron was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church and past president of the Elkton Lions Club. He greatly enjoyed pheasant hunting and deer hunting, league bowing, golfing, fishing and playing cards, in his youth loved to shoot pool. The lights of his life were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Marge; three children, Tari (Scott) Myers of Sebewaing, Mark (Carin) Farver of Ft Bragg, CA and Scott (Karen) Farver of Oak Park; grandchildren, Trevor (Kecia) Myers. Adam (Marcela) Farver, Brianna (Andrew) Hathaway, Alison Myers, Neil Farver,Theo Farver, Pierce Berolzheimer, Emily (Kaiya) Bercow and Amy (Coty) Hough; great grandchildren, Khloe, Sophia, Liam, Alder and Freja; a brother, Bruce (Betsy) Farver of Elkton; sisters, Sandra (Art) Carpenter of Smyrna, TN and Margie (John) Kanaski of Elkton; sisters-in-law, Rose Farver of Elkton and Marilyn (Thomas) Kushak of Springfield, IL.

Preceding him in death are his brother, Merlin Farver and brother-in-law, William McCarty.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:30 AM Saturday, October 22, at the Elkton United Methodist Church where friends may call from 9:30 AM until the time of services.

Memorials may be directed to his church, Thumb Animal Shelter of the donor’s choice.
