Ronald Clifton Gibbs of Caro, age 72, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Ron was born November 27, 1949 in Unionville, the son of the late Melvin and Ernestine (Brock) Gibbs. He graduated from Unionville High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly thereafter obtaining the rank of Sergeant and remaining until retirement. He was united in marriage with Virginia Fader on July 10, 1985, and together they had three children, Shelley & Randy Heckroth, Rick & Jeannie Putman, and Peggy Matthews, all of Caro. Virginia preceded him in death on January 15, 2013. Ron will be remembered for his great sense of humor, like when he got a York peppermint patty or when he let his great-granddaughter, Chloe, put makeup on him and place barrettes in his hair. There are also the things he taught his grandson, James, in the summers that he spent with him at the cottage on Rose Island, things we can't mention. Many more memories include how close he was with great-grandson, Cole, after losing Ginger, and Cole staying with him when Covid hit, or when he was ill. He also enjoyed watching Grayson and Wyatt with all of their energy. Ron will be remembered as a gentle man that never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He loved visitors, especially if they brought peppermint patties, spending time with family, going to the campground, stories around the campfire. Ron leaves wonderful, cherished memories for all. In addition to his children, Ron is survived by his sisters, Donna Schuette, Joyce Smith, Vernitta (Don) Lefler; grandchildren, James (Amanda) Heckroth, Brooke Heckroth, Krystal Remaris, Steve (Nicole) Putman, Shannon (Jeff), Gary (Elisa) Graves, Robert (Chris) Graves; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Ron was preceded in death by sons, Shaun Gibbs, David & Gary Graves; brothers, Tom & Bill Gibbs; grandson, Bryan Goslin; brothers-in-law, Clare Schuette, Rudy Fader, Lee Fader and John Frank; sisters-in-law, Ruby Fader and Becky Frank; and granddaughter, Amanda Matthews. In keeping with Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service is being planned for a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Shelley Heckroth, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
