Ronald Delbert Martens, age 92, of Sebewaing, went to be with his savior Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Bay View Gardens in Sebewaing under Heartland Hospice care.
Ronald was born November 13, 1932, in Royal Oak, to Harvey and Mabel (Myers) Martens. He married Genavie "Jenny" Ebel on August 30, 1952, at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. He lived in the Sebewaing and Unionville area most of his life, moved to Gladwin in 2022, then back to Sebewaing in 2025. He served in the US Army and served in the Korean War. Ronald was a member of New Salem Lutheran Church where he held different offices over the years. He was also a member of the Unionville American Legion Post #421. Ronald worked in auto body repair, was an insurance adjuster until retirement in 1992, then worked a paper route for several years after retiring. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Genavie "Jenny"; 6 children: Kathleen (John) Schafer, Peggy (Michael) Hoppe, Karen (Brian) Hines, Richard (Roseanne) Martens, David (Robin) Martens and Eugene (Nicole) Martens: 19 grandchildren: Vicki (Jason) Smith, Rebecca (Herb) Pines, Carla (Michael) Alderson, Nick Linzner, Amanda (Lou) Boggs, Jodi Linzner, Danae Hoppe, Zach (Amanda) Hoppe, Kristy (Chad) Liberacki, Eric (Carrie) Hines, Joel (Caitlyn) Hines, Nathan (Rachel) Martens, Zach Martens, Troy Sasso, Nikki (Troy) Zylstra, Jason (Christina) Martens, Selah, Levi and Chase Martens; 36 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; brother, Robert "Fred" Martens; and many nieces and nephews.
Ronald is preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Martens; his parents, Harvey Martens and Mable (Flynn) Braddock; 2 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law: Donna and Richard Woolum, Irene and William Hudson; and sister-in-law, Susan Martens.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, October 24, 2025 at New Salem Lutheran Church, 222 Grove St., Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Pastor William Mayhew will be officiating. A luncheon will follow.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Legion Post #421 or New Salem Lutheran Church.
