Ronald "Ron" Alfred Pomeroy

Ronald “Ron” Alfred Pomeroy of Vassar, age 70, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Ron was born in Caro, Michigan, on April 30, 1956, to the late Carlyle and Bonnie (Weiss) Pomeroy. He was raised on the family dairy farm and would be a farmer at heart for his entire life. Ron was an over-the-road truck driver for over 30 years before returning to farm life hauling crops for Vader Farms for the last 15 years. He was a simple man who knew the important things in life: family and friends. Ron was a personable man who made friends everywhere he went and was an amazing grandfather who stepped up to support his family through all their hard times. He spoiled his grandchildren and had everyone around him constantly laughing with his quick wit and jokes. Ron also enjoyed quiet time at home and especially loved birdwatching from his dining room table. He was a generous man with a great heart full of love and will be deeply missed by anyone who was blessed with the chance to know him.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Pomeroy; grandchildren, Lena, Justin, and Matthew Dost; great-grandson, Jesse Scarberry; and siblings, Carol (Charles Sr.) Fackler, William (Laura) Pomeroy, Sr., Linda McKinnon, Joan Fritz, Donna (Rod Chapel) Keys, Nancy (Darin) Fackler, Bonnie Kay (George) Hoggard, and Connie (John) Rock; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by son, Ryan Pomeroy; son-in-law, Chuck Dost; brother, Donald Pomeroy; brothers-in-law, Daniel Fritz and Michael McKinnon; nephew, Michael Pomeroy; and nieces, Amanda List, ChanTell Pasanski, and Rebecca Fackler.

Cremation for Ron will take place and a memorial gathering celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
