Ronald W. Russell

Ronald W. Russell of Caro, age 74, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility in Sandusky, following a lingering illness. Ron was born August 22, 1942 in Block, Tennessee, the son of the late Harry & Minnie (Housley) Russell. He was united in marriage with Karen Bennett on April 15, 1967. Ron retired from Chrysler Motor Company as an inspector after thirty-two years of service. He was a past member of the Caro V.F.W. Post, and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. When he was able, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and trucks. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen; two children and their spouses, Kelly & George Sangster of Decker, Robert & Angela Russell of Caro; three grandchildren, Kelsey Yates and her husband, Matthew, of Georgia, Tyler Russell and Rhyker Russell, both of Caro; one great-grandson, Xander Yates; four sisters and one brother. Ron was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Bullock officiating. Military honors will follow afforded by the United States Marine Corps and the Caro VFW Post #4164. Interment will be at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
