Ronald Gene Schmidt

Ronald G. Schmidt, 87, of Pigeon, went to his eternal reward on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Scheurer Long Term Care in Pigeon.

Ron was born June 2, 1934 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Margaret (Vollmer) Schmidt. He served in the US Marine Corps in the Korean War. He married Janice Jamieson on June 11, 1955 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon.

Ron retired from the Huron County Road Commission in 1999 as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. An honorable man, he was faithful to his faith, family, and country.

Ron is survived by his wife Janice; children Thomas (Barbara) of Saginaw Twp, David (Teresa) of Bay City, Mary Joan (Timothy) Schuette of Pigeon and Jeffrey (Dawn) of Pigeon; grandchildren Michael, Peter, Marc, Janelle, Garrett, Mason, Shannon, Erin, Kyle, and Kimberly; great-grandchildren Alexia, Piper, and Madison. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph and sister-in-law Barbara.

A funeral Mass will be 11:00am Thursday, June 2nd (his 88th birthday) at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Pare presiding. Visitation will be 2-7 Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon.
