Ronald D. Wichert, 85, of Pigeon, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 at home.
Ron was born February 19, 1937 in Bay Port to the late Floyd and Irene (Belding) Wichert. He graduated from Pigeon High School in 1955. He married Noel Schuette on June 1, 1957 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church - Berne.
Ron retired from Sanilac County Road Commission as a heavy equipment operator in 2003 and also worked 40 years for Corrion Excavating in Pigeon. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church - Berne. He enjoyed gardening, Western movies and time spent with his family.
Ron is survived by his wife Noel; children Alan (Patricia) of Port Hope, Brian (Shannon) of Bad Axe, Doug (Shelly) of Pigeon and Angie (Jon) Helmuth of Bay Port; son-in-law Darrell Gotham of Bay Port; grandchildren Marcie (TC) Miller, Tim (Karla) Gotham, Kevin (Laurie) Gotham, Matt (Shelby) Gotham, Elayna (Malcolm) Wichert, Connor Wichert, Trever (Mary Kaye) Wichert, Brendan Wichert, Nicole Kent, Cory Kent, Madison Helmuth, Jacob Helmuth, and Mitchel Helmuth; great-grandchildren Justin, Charles, Morgan, Jillian, Macklin, Charleigh, Kali, Tyson, and Colton; siblings Gilbert (Naomi) Wichert of Pigeon, Lois (Jack) Gallagher of Cass City, Dale (Bonnie) Wichert of Saginaw, and Gary (Ruth Ann) Wichert of Cass City. He was preceded in death by his daughter Andrea Gotham and grandsons David and Lee Wichert.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday, May 19th at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church - Berne with Pastor Steve Neuman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 Wednesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Pigeon.
