Rose Austin

Rose Austin, age 83 years, of Caro, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2005, at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw. Rose Griesmayer was born on August 4, 1922, to Joseph and Catherine (Franks) Griesmayer in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. As a child, Rose and her family moved to Saginaw. On September 19, 1942, she was united in marriage with Norman L. Austin. He preceded her in death in 1979. After their marriage, the Austins lived in Unionville, and she remained in Tuscola County for the rest of her life. In addition to being a homemaker, Rose sold Stanley Home Products for 25 years in addition to working with her husband at Austins Service and finally at the Village Dry Cleaners in Reese. She enjoyed quilting, reading, puzzles and Bible studies. She was a member of the Christian Biblical Church of God. Rose is survived by 4 children, Bonnie (Milton) Schmitt of Fairgrove, Susan Austin of Caro, Larry (Robin) Austin of Vassar and Carole (Mark) Fritz of Caro; eight grandchildren, Milton Schmitt, Jr., Michael Schmitt, Melissa (Ken) Sommerfield, Julie (Jason) Kozan, Jennifer Austin, Vanessa (Justin) Brannam, Rachel (Justin) Whitney and Stephanie Austin; seven great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Austin; and her siblings, Joseph and John Griesmayer and Eva Campbell. The funeral service will be held: AT: Collon Funeral Home in Caro ON: Wednesday, October 12th at 1:00 p.m. WITH: Jeff Ledy, officiating Burial will be: AT: Hickory Island Cemetery in Akron Township Visitation will be: AT: Collon Funeral Home in Caro ON: Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Rose Austin family discretionary fund, c/o Bonnie Schmitt.
